Nobel Laureate Mother Teresa Charitable Trust (MTCT) believes that empowering women is fundamental to building resilient families, inclusive communities, and a more equitable society. Inspired by the compassion and humanitarian values of Mother Teresa, our Women Empowerment Programme equips women from economically disadvantaged and socially marginalized communities with the skills, knowledge, confidence, and opportunities needed to achieve financial independence and lead lives of dignity and purpose. Despite significant progress, many women continue to face barriers to education, employment, healthcare, financial inclusion, and leadership due to poverty, gender inequality, discrimination, and limited livelihood opportunities. Through skill development, entrepreneurship promotion, financial literacy, leadership development, and sustainable livelihood initiatives, MTCT is committed to breaking these barriers, enabling women to realize their full potential and become confident changemakers who drive lasting social and economic transformation.
Our Programmes
Our Women Empowerment initiatives are designed to cultivate market-relevant competencies that enable women to achieve sustainable livelihoods, attain financial independence, and become confident contributors to economic development. Our key interventions include:
Embroidery, handicrafts, and traditional artisan skill development.
Vocational education, employability enhancement, and livelihood development programmes.
Self-employment facilitation and income-generation initiatives.
Micro-enterprise development, entrepreneurship promotion, and business mentoring.
Interest-free financial assistance of up to Rs. 10,000 for eligible women entrepreneurs, repayable over a flexible period, to support the establishment, expansion, or strengthening of small-scale enterprises.
To ensure long-term and sustainable empowerment, MTCT is working to:
Identify and support women from economically disadvantaged households.
Promote and strengthen Women Self-Employment Groups (SHG).
Develop women leaders, trainers, and community mentors.
Encourage entrepreneurship through capacity building and mentoring.
