Our Foundation Story

Nobel Laureate Mother Teresa Charitable Trust (MTCT) was established in 1997, inspired by the extraordinary life, boundless compassion, and enduring legacy of Saint Mother Teresa, whose unwavering dedication to humanity transformed countless lives across the world.

Following her passing on 5 September 1997, an unprecedented wave of grief, admiration, and gratitude swept across nations, reflecting the profound impact of her life and mission. Deeply moved by this global tribute, Dr. G. K. Dhas, Founder and Managing Trustee, together with a group of compassionate visionaries who shared Mother Teresa's ideals of selfless service, resolved to carry forward her humanitarian mission in a meaningful and lasting way.

Thus, Mother Teresa Charitable Trust (MTCT) was born - not merely as an organization, but as a living tribute to a woman whose life exemplified unconditional love, humility, and service to the poorest of the poor. It was established to continue Mother Teresa's mission of serving humanity with compassion, dignity, hope, and unconditional love, reaching those who are marginalized, vulnerable, and forgotten. Inspired by Mother Teresa's timeless belief that "Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love," M TCT embraces the philosophy that every act of kindness, no matter how small, has the power to transform lives and strengthen communities.

Since its inception, Mother Teresa Charitable Trust (MTCT) has evolved into a trusted humanitarian organization dedicated to serving disadvantaged communities through healthcare, education, social welfare, women and child development, disaster relief, and community empowerment. Guided by the enduring motto, "Service to Mankind is Service to God," MTCT continues to uphold Saint Mother Teresa's legacy by bringing hope, compassion, and dignity to those in need while striving to build a more just, inclusive, and caring society.
